this is Christmas

There would be no Christmas without Christ and that's what I want to keep in mind as I celebrate the day that Jesus was born. Christmas has become so commercial and most people are busy, busy, busy worried about where the next stop is and what gift to get. Let's not get caught up in this. The world is so focused on this. I mean I give gifts and spend time with my family, but we have to remember that Jesus is the reason for our celebration of this holiday. This Christmas I will come and adore Him, giving Him the glory he deserves for coming to this earth that we may be saved.

Merry Christmas!

leaves

White lines on the highway

looking out across the landscape

My eyes see Your fingerprints, see all that
all that Your hands made

It should have been a dead giveaway

These reflections that You give us,
to show us Your face

I get lost, I get lost, I get lost in it all.
You amaze me.

chalk at the capitol

Lately, I've been looking for volunteer opportunities to help in the community and I found the perfect option: volunteer photographer at YWCA's Chalk at the Capitol. This event is a part of October's Week Against Violence. Each day of the week the Battered Women's Program hosts an event to support domestic violence.

It was quite the experience. I've never gone around taking pictures of complete strangers. And to be honest, I felt awkward at times. Some people would walk away when I came up, others would give a look showing "ugh...I wish this girl wouldn't take a picture of me", and others didn't mind at all, especially the kids. It helped that they gave me an "event photographer" badge so people knew I wasn't just some weirdo taking pictures. The weather was beautiful and it was great talking with all the people who were at the event.

I loved doing something I enjoy to help out the community. If you are looking for volunteer opportunites check this out. Anyways...here are just a few photos I took.

could be doing homework, but this was more appealing

After months of talking about it, I finally got to take Hyon's family pictures. She was my "guinea pig" (just thought I'd throw that statment at ya). I've never taken family pictures before, but I think they turned out fairly decent. I must say I wish we wouldn't have done them so close to noon. Shadows were horrible, but according to the weather man it was suppose to be cloudy. Yeah, I'm blaming this one on the weather man. It was comical trying to get Keyon's attention by bribing him with candy, making things "come out of my ears" and telling him to "look cause Optimus Prime is coming." I can always see ways of improvement for my work, but Hyon and Keith were happy with the pictures so that is all that matters. Looks like I've drawn up some clientele, though. Next week taking my cousin's family pictures, been asked to take senior pictures for 2 people, and another family's pictures. I guess practice makes for better pictures. Looks like I'll be getting a lot more practice. I'm excited about it!

sing a happy song

For the last couple months I've been really getting into Owl City and lets just say I'm a big fan. This "band" consist of one member, Adam Young, and falls into the category of synthpop. I like Adam's music. It's different and makes me happy everytime I listen to it. Do you have those certain artists you like to listen to as you drive in your car? This is one of mine. Relient K's Matt Thiessen has even collabrated on a few of the tracks. Check out Owl City's video "Fireflies" here. You might even notice I have some Owl City playing on my blog..."On the Wing."

time is on my side...

Wish I had more time to do stuff like this...
So, I'm going to school to be a Christian Counselor. I'm really enjoying my online school and loving the fact that I am in classes with other believers. I'm learning to be a better counselor while learning to be a more informed Christian. The poeple in my classes are such a blessing even though I cannot talk to them face to face. I'm learning so much from them as well as the classes themselves. I'm busy busy latley, though. Full time work and full time school....gotta love it, but I miss my time for my crafty projects.

Who Says Women Talk Too Much?

This is so funny! This video was sent to me through an email from a friend. I opened it up at work and could not quit laughing! People in the waiting room were looking at me funny probably wondering why I randomly began laughing at the computer screen, but then again people look at me funny all the time. =) I like how the little girl is trying to get her point across to the man ,who I'm assumming is her dad. She is really into whatever she is talking about and wants people to know about it. I hope this video makes you laugh as much as I did. Enjoy!
